We worship. We make music and sing. We pray. We support our church community. We support the larger community, particularly those in need. We celebrate and support each other, in good times and bad. We learn. We relax.
We are a mainline UCC church in the proud congregational tradition of our denomination. But, we are also a church that looks forward and stretches itself. In our worship we incorporate many arts. We love music and have a long rich tradition in this area. Of course we play the organ and piano. But we also play hand bells, bagpipes, flutes and clarinets, steel drums and guitars. Newcomers, and new talents, are always welcome.
Our Women’s Fellowship is active and meets regularly during the year. Our Men’s Fellowship has a focus on practical service. In our first project we painted a house for a Westborough neighbor.
Our youth are active as well. In addition to meeting during the school year, we send a group of youth and adult supervisors to Work Camps every summer, rebuilding, painting, and refurbishing houses for people who could use a hand. Youth who attend these Work Camp give a lot and tell us they come back transformed, having experienced and been given a lot more. Check out their stories.
We have adult teams active in these kinds of projects as well. Locally, we support Habitat for Humanity. And, in each of the last two years, volunteer adult teams have gone to New Orleans to help with on-going disaster relief, by rebuilding homes.
Another aspect of our church that unites members of all ages is our interest in learning. From a creative, hands on Sunday School experience to adult bible study groups there many many opportunities for members to grow spiritually. We have an active, experiential Confirmation program for 9th graders as preparation for membership in the church. We also sponsor off-campus retreats which offer plenty of focus on spiritual growth and fellowship.
We know how to have fun as well and believe that good fellowship is an important part of re-energizing and growing as a community. We have picnics and suppers (regular and “progressive”), game nights, and, of course, coffee hour after every service. We are also very proud of our annual Christmas Fair. While it seems to be equal parts work and fun, the whole church comes together for the preparation and unfolding of this wonderful regular winter event that is open to the community and features more sights and sounds and things to do and enjoy than we could list here.
It is our hope to continually grow, love, and be just, in a world which pulls all of us in many directions. Even if you are not a member or friend, know that you are welcome here. When you are ready, come visit. If you like what you see, come join us.
