The mission of the music ministry in our church is to enrich the lives of children and adults alike with the joy, beauty, and inspiration of sacred music. It is our hope that this enrichment will be part of everyone’s life forever; not only the participants but the listeners as well. We remember that our abilities and talents come from the Lord, and we give grateful thanks.

Our music is best characterized as a blended style, incorporating both traditional hymns, contemporary music, and other styles.

RECENT NEWS…

Our October 2011 Musicale variety show was such a fantastic display of fun and entertainment. We were very thankful for so many different musical ensembles, soloists, and comedic performances.

We are truly blessed with the recent acquisition of a beautiful Petrof Concert Grand Piano. In just 2 years it has already brought so much joy and opportunities.

OVERVIEW

There are a number of ways to get involved with Music in our church whether it be joining one of our choir or handbell groups or performing solo or in a small ensemble. We are blessed with the talent that exists both within our church as well as from volunteers from the local area.

Just some of the instruments that we have had performed in our sanctuary recently include Piano, Guitar, Trumpets/Brass, Violin, Cello, String Quartet, Saxaphone, Drums, Flute, Bells, Chimes, Flute Choirs, Clarinet, Oboe, Steel Pan as well as many vocalists.

If you are interested in joining one of the following groups or would like more information please feel free to contact one of the Music Directors or Choir Members.

Year-Round Opportunities

For Soloists or small ensembles that are interested in performing at one of our Sunday Services thruout the year, please contact our Music Director- Curtis Richardson

Summer Music

Summer is an especially good time to get involved. This has been a Summer tradition where members and friends of the congregation with vocal or musical talent play large roles in the music for the Sunday Service. You can do as little as 1 piece, or even 3 or more. Interested people should use the sign up sheet located in the choir room, or ask a Music Director or Choir member for more information.

Local School Musicians

Aspiring musicians from the local High School or Junior High school who are seeking performance opportunities and would like to volunteer their talent are always welcome. We have an open and standing invitation and would love to have you share your gift during one of our Sunday services. Please contact a Music Director or Choir member for more information.

Concerts and Special Events

Thruout the year we often have at least a couple of concerts or cantatas. For choir based productions, if you would like to join the choir part-time to participate in just the concert you would be very welcome. Also, depending on the type of event there may be opportunities for soloists, instrumentalists, and other musical ensembles.

Periodically we do large joint performances with other Church’s in the local area (and also with those who would like to travel to our area). If you have a medium to large ensemble or choir and are interested in joining together for a big event please contact our Music Director- Curtis Richardson.

Cookie Walk

Every December we hold a fundraiser for the benefit of the Music Program. Members of the Choirs, Bells, and Music Committee bring in their home made cookies which are then sold by the pound. Members and friends of the congregation pick up a container and choose an array of treats just in time for the holidays. It’s fun for kids and adults alike and it’s a great way to support our Music Ministry.

Most Importantly- if you have a musical talent, PLEASE DO NOT HESITATE TO GET INVOLVED. We would love for you to be part of our music program!
